Considered as having some of the finest holes in America, Bedford Springs was designed by Spencer Oldham in 1895 and was later redesigned by Donald Ross. A quintessential American Classic course situated in south-central Pennsylvania, Bedford Springs features deep bunkering and flared greens. Because the links run along Shobers Run Creek, a tributary of the Juniata River, the course had deteriorated due to erosion and faulty attempts at reconstruction in the 1950s. Among other elements, Frontier’s recent renovation included restoration of the natural spring bed using native grasses and other materials indigenous to the flood plain. Water features are evident to the eye at almost every hole. |
